-Says only "Show People" care about registration and working/pet
people don't (not to mention ConKC "prints up beautiful papers on
anything and the puppy registration is free, not like the AKC who will
come and inspect you if you have more than three litters a year")
-buys puppies "wholesale" then resells them via their friend's pet
shop for hundreds of dollars more than what they bought them for
(unless the dog was free)
-Suggests you breed your dog even after you explain that it has HD
-says they won't get BREEDING STOCK from the pound
-all dogs are incorrect type/conformation
-tells you they know more than you because they've been breeding dogs
for longer than you've been alive and they showed a lot before getting
sick of it (to be honest, the dogs they had 30+ years ago were really
nice... but it's just not the same now)

and they're your relative that just pulled up in a travel trailer last
night, unannounced, and is on her way to buy more dogs on her way to
Nevada where she has many more dogs.

I SOOOO need to puke right now. It's probably one of the worst
situations I've ever been in.

It's really sad that she DID have good dogs, once upon a time (says
she hasn't shown a dog since the Southern California Basenji Specialty
in 1985)

She just informed me that I have to get another Catahoula (since she
planned on breeding to Beau, though I was never consulted on this
plan... this is probably the ONLY time I'll be glad he can't be bred)
and breed it and give her a pup... afterall she gave me TWO dogs.

Keep in mind Tommy was starved and beaten and down to 40# when I got
him at 4 years old and he took years to be a good dog and Lucy was the
result of Tommy's sire getting out and getting to the neighbor's dog
(Which was a Queensland Heeler and she insists that the Queensland is
NOT the same thing as an ACD and that both breeds originated from the
same dogs as the Aussie, when every breed history will tell you
something completely NOT the same). Even though Lucy is
(unofficially) the Best Dog in the History of the World.

Grrrrr.

FWIW, I have a nice large bottle of vodka I was saving for a special
occasion. I wonder if this counts.

My sympathies.

Go to the USDA site and check to see if they're licensed for this, as
breeders/animal dealers. If not, report 'em. Heh.

Check the local and state laws where their "facilities" are. If they're
supposed to be licensed and aren't, report 'em.

Call the humane societies where they're located, and report 'em.

If nothing else, there'll be a rabies shot requirement, anywhere they live,
and chances are good that those dogs aren't vaccinated. Report 'em to the
state health dept.

Nothing might come of any of this, but it beats doing nothing.

No, her last Basenji died this past winter. I suppose the only ones
really left are the "trickle down" dogs, like Parade (who, thank doG,
is spayed).

FWIW, she said she took 13 dogs to that specialty and came home with
11 ribbons... including Reserve ??? You *may* even know the dogs, if
you heard her name. I don't know what kennel she registered her dogs
under in the past (this time it's LOLAA)
