Default Fleas?

Our four? month old choc lab pup frequently scratches
and worries genitalia and belly area at length. Does
this indicate pests? Just fleas or other?

We live in Dallas and have let Coco run around outside
in our dog run (and swim in the pool). Could this be
the source of the problem, or is it natural, regardless?

Teenager is going to apply flea dip.

I'm also concerned about the carpet, the Teenager's
room, and the cage, where Coco spends a lot of time.
If we neglect to purge the house, are the bugs just
going to hit her again from wherever she has spread them?

Frontline or advanage, best thing to keep those fleas away, I was truly
surprised how well these work and my dog has lost of hair a flea can get lost
in....... nada. I also supplement with Flea Treats, Google search, and not
afiliated, but use in combo and my girl is flea free.

Our relatives have had three labs die from stomach cancer. Suspect the dogs
were drinking water from the pool and the chemicals may have caused it
(isn't chlorine a carcinogen?). The one other dog, who is much older,
didn't like getting wet and tended to avoid the pool is still alive. So it
wasn't the dog food (maybe?).
