Unfortunately that is very hard to predict if his brothers and sisters will
also have it. It is hereditary, so it is very possible. But as in humans, an epileptic parent may well pass on the seizure tendency to his/her children. Most often it is not passed on to all children. An epileptic friend of mine was the only one of 3 children to have it (her father is also epileptic). My little Taffy was a very bad epileptic, but a perfect little dog. While she did go through some very hard times, she lived to be nearly 16 years old. Most epileptic dogs are not as bad as Taffy, in that many can be almost seizure free with medication. But like my friend, her seizures continued. Best of luck to you. All you can do is hope your dogs siblings won't develop seizures, but love them even if they do. Andrea "Dog Lover" wrote in message ... Now that my dog has been diagnosed with Epilepsy what are the odds that his brithers and sisters will have this disorder? |
