Default Boarding Kennel

My dog -now a little older- is used to running around on thirty-three
acres with wild geese, squirrels and ducks to entertain him all day.
Whenever he chooses to come into the house, which is very often, he
gets more affection than most dogs in the world. We need to board the
dog at some kennel for 45 days while we travel overseas this summer to
Bulgaria. We looked at nearly two dozen different boarding kennels but
there is no way our dog could stay there. Most of them were not
acceptable for various reasons. Please suggest the very best kennel
you are aware of -anywhere in the US/Canada- where we could board our
dog. Many thanks.

If your dog is friendly with other dogs, there are two wonderful kennels in
the DC/Metro area where the dogs get to run around and play with each other
in large, safe, fenced areas that are almost as big as dog parks.

If your dog is NOT friendly with other dogs, these places would not work for
you.

Let me know if you would like additional information.

Have you thought about boarding in a private home where the dog lives
in someone's house. Maybe your vet or pet shop might know someone.

That's pretty much my back-up plan for boarding my dogs. Vet nurse with
3 fenced acres. The yard has trees and a pond, and dogs can access the
yard when someone is home through a doggie door. The dogs all sleep in
the bedroom with the family. BUT, she interviews the dog and owners,
makes sure the dog is compatible with her own dogs as well as her
children. Unless OP lives in the Northern Virginia area, I don't think
it would be practical for him to leave his dogs at this place.
