Subject: Canine Prosthetics
From: (izysirius) Date: 9/9/03 6:23 PM Pacific Daylight Time My canine had a forleg amputated four months ago and he could certainly use some help. I'm sorry to hear about your dog's loss of a limb. But, to be honest, most dogs do extremely well with the loss of a leg. Does he get around? Is the 'hopping' gait bothersome to you, or is he not even trying to ambulate? If he is trying to move around, swimming might give more muscle tone and strength to the remaining legs and help overall with this new way of walking. I don't know of any prosthetics available to dogs as it is usually not a problem after a period of adjustment. Deb Shilo, Georgie & Hank |

Subject: Canine Prosthetics
From: ojunk (Deb) Date: 9/9/03 9:55 PM Pacific Daylight Time ....another thought. As I am struggling with 'less food = less weight' for my two dogs, could your dog benefit from less weight? Might help. Deb Shilo, Georgie & Hank |

Hi Deb, et al. Thank you for your kind suggestions. He ambulates, but he is
MASSIVE in size (biggest canine most people have ever seen) and two days before his amputation (5 months ago), we walked 1.5 hours...now 2 blocks and he is bushed. Typical wolf, i.e. excess weight is not a problem. Rober "Deb" wrote in message ...
