Poor dog , she must be suffering. Have you thought about alternative
medicine like homeopathy . I've no personal experience with this but some people have had good results. You could also try asking this question on news:alt.med.veterinary -- Alison Links to animal information websites http://mysite.freeserve.com/petinfolinks/ "maureen espeleta" wrote in message om... In the beginning of this summer (03) my dog jumped in the pool with her Hartz Mountain flea collar on. She had been in the pool many times but not with a flea collar. When she came out of the pool, she still had her collar on and she dried with it on and it stayed on. Shortly thereafter (1-2 weeks), I noticed clumps of fur around the house. Then the fur on her chest fell out. Of course we removed the flea collar and brought her to the vet. She has been to the vet many many times since the beginning of the summer. She has been on allergy medication, steroids, cortizone pills, antihistamine and antibiotic sprays. All this only temporarily relieves and controls the problem. She still has scally patches of skin where clumps of fur come out easily in your hand. She has also developed lumps around her head, ears, neck. this is also the area where the fur falls out. She is now being shampooed weekly with medicated shampoo, which helps alot but doesn't completely alleviate the problem. I don't know whether to go back to the vet, try a dermatoligist or what. I feel strongly this is a reaction to the flea collar and the chlorine in the pool. Does anyone have any experiece with a similiar problem? Does anyone have a cure? Thanks |
