It probably wore off faster on them because they
spend so much time in and around water.

Forgot to mention that while I was singing Advantix's praises: Orson swims
nearly every day in summer, and it doesn't seem to lose its effect before
it's time to reapply.

Indeed and Frontline does tend to wear off. Blade swims at least 4 times
a week in summer. And boy is he ready for summer.

as you know, I know everything about dog behavior, but
I don't have time to research all the various flea and
tick products.

that's understandable, what with the book writing and video producing and
all.

That and the television appearances on the network
that is trying to buy Disney can really be a drag
on your time, yes.

I hope that heelps.

FYI Frontline doesn't have repellant properties--the tick must bite the dog
to get poisoned. Advantix seems to have repellant properties. However, both
are seen by some as toxic oil baths for the dog, one woman I know reports
great success with Black Walnut Oil.

Of course Black Walnut Oil is a known toxin to dogs, but unlike the
commercial products its untested as to how toxic, side effects, what to
watch for etc. I don't think I'd like to encourage experimentation by
even mentioning its use. People can be a little silly sometimes and leap
to use the "natural" substance entirely disregarding lack of safety
information. I hope that woman's dogs don't suffer the consequences of
her ignorance.
