Default Dog suddenly started peeing/pooping inside

Hi Folks,
I hope this is the right newsgroup to post to, if not, please let me
know.
Anyway, we adopted a Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix (Jack) one month
ago from the local shelter. He is a laid back, calm dog that gets
along fine with cats and other dogs. He *always* asks to go out, even
when he doesn't 'go'.

Yesterday my father brought his Pomeranian to the house and the little
dog was running all over the place with my Jack following right behind
him. The Pom did not crap or pee inside.

My father and I then went out, taking the Pom with us and we were gone
for about three or four hours. When we arrived back, Jack had crapped
ont he carpet. Then he crapped again near the same area last night
before bedtime. Then this morning, right after he ate breakfast, he
went right back to the same area and peed. Needless to say, I am
pretty suprised (and pissed off) over this. He never once went in the
house in the time we have had him. He has *always* asked to go out by
dancing at the door and running back and forth.

I also noticed that when I walked him last night, he had his head to
the ground, the whole time, sniffing and stopping to snort. He
normally doesn't do this very much at all, he justw alks and looks
around. The Pom was running around the outside of the house earlier in
the day.
All this leads me to believe this is a territorial thing. Could it be?
What can I do to prevent this in the future? The Pom won't be allowed
back into the house. I don't want Jack thinking its ok to go in the
house and I would like to know how I would discipline him should it
happen again.

Many thanks for any help!
Chris
