Default Dog coming on yard

The last week or so, a dog has been coming on our property and driving
my dog nuts. He comes on the property and pisses all over and shits up
a storm. I have enough dog crap to clean up and don't need any more.
He comes at all times, day and night and makes my poor dog bark and
run around like a maniac.

The dog seems nice, but won't let me touch it. He also has a collar
on, but no tag. We have no animal warden where I live and there are
only three people on my long road and he belongs to none of them, so I
believe the dog is homeless. Besides the three home on my street,
there is no other home for a few miles. A call to the shelter, which
is 40 miles away proved totally fruitless.

What can I do to get this dog away from my property??

Many thanks,
Chris

1. See if any of your neighbors would like to take him in.

2. Try to catch him, calmly, then take him to the county pound, the nearest
one you can find. This'll likely mean he gets euthanized but if other
people are as upset about his presence then he may be shot at. As for
catching him, I'd recommend coming outside with something tasty when you see
him. Squat down, talk nicely, and see if he'll come to you. Its kind of a
dirty trick to get his trust and turn him into a shelter but he's also at
risk of being run over if he's homeless.

No one wants him, I tried that path already. LOL

I tried, but can't get near him..I can only get about four feet away
before he bolts away at 100mph+

Well, if caught, I would take him to the local Humane Society which is
a no-kill shelter.

Yeah, I tried this too.....I went out with bagels, dog cookies,
meatloaf and even strawberry cake..
I suppose I could try to lasso him..lol
Maybe I need to do this for a week or so before I get his trust..

You're not going to like this answer, but put up a fence. In areas
where there are laws against dogs roaming free, you can get the Law to
help, but apparently that's not the case where you live. You could keep
him off your yard by doing things that harm him, but you haven't
indicated you want anything to do with that. (And who could blame you?)
There are humane traps that could help you catch him, but then you'd
have to do something with him like take him to a county shelter, and
we're back to doing something that could harm him. There's no such
thing as a product that keeps dogs away by smell or sound, and if there
were, your own dog wouldn't like it. I realize a fence is expensive and
it shouldn't be your problem, but the bottom line is that that's the
only way you're going to keep him off your property. Or you could put
up with cleaning up after him and your own dog's barking. Life isn't
fair. That bothers me too.
