If you really want to try using this fertilizer where the dogs have
access to it, try scratching it into the soil and then put down a thick
layer of mulch on top. I basically had to stop using fertilizers that
smell like food (blood and bone meal, fish emulsion) because it drove
the dog nuts and brought in tons of unwelcome visitors of the wild kind.
All the digging around they were doing turned out to be
contraindicated for the health and well-being of the plants. Now, I
just use a good slow release fertilizer in addition to compost.
