Default organic gardners? (on topic, i promise!)

Manu just ripped into a box of organic 5-5-5 plant food and devoured a fair
amount of it. it appears to be mostly comprised of alfalfa meal, chicken
****, bone meal, blood meal, sunflower hulls, and kelp meal.

how sick is this going to make him? and how do i keep him from licking all
the fertilizer out of my flower beds?

hmmmm?

sounds like higher quality stuff than is
found in your typical bag of dog food.

I hope it does not adversely affect Manu's
heelth.

He'll either puke it up or have loose stools on the other end. No real
lasting harm. Dogs love alfalfa and bone meal and other organic supplements
and can't get enough of them. Either run an electric wire around the
perimeter of the beds or use a chemical time release fertilizer like
Osmocote and scratch it in.

how sick is this going to make him?

.......Heh, had a dog lick up all the bone meal/bloodmeal I applied to
plants. She got the runs for a couple of days.

and how do i keep him from licking all
the fertilizer out of my flower beds?

.........It's a problem! Hard to top dress anything when dogs have free
access to the area. I sure wouldn't add any ordinary fertilizer at this
moment as the beds probably still smell like organic fertilizer - unless you
never got it on the flowers!
