Default Dog Navel

Hi,
I was grooming my dog (collie) recently and noticed a slit on his
chest / stomach about .75 - 1" in length. It looks like a fold in his
skin. It's located just below his ribcage and dead center. At first I
assumed it must be his navel (though I can't recall seeing it before
and he's 9 yrs. old) but as I've looked up info on canine navels, it
sems that they tend to look like scars (I'm assuming a single closed
scar).

Any guesses?

Please e-mail response to
Thanks,
Jim
