This is the reason why I am scared of chihuahuas
My friend's CHHalways bark whenever we visited and heard stories of it biting my friends. Saw CHHs in intermediate class that are very obedient and never heard them bark at all. So I think bringing your dog for training is the answer to your problem. Find a good trainer. |

Saw CHHs in intermediate class that are very obedient and never heard them bark at all. So I think bringing your dog for training is the answer to your problem. Find a good trainer. Years ago, I knew a wonderful Chihuahua, named "Mighty Mouse," who was showing in obedience and agility in the same classes (CDX in obedience and NA in agility) as Zeffie, my smooth collie. Mouse & Zeffie were colored almost exactly the same way (Tri: black and tan with white feet, collar, chest, belly & tail tip) and they were both born at the end of June, so we joked that they were twins separated at birth. Mouse's owner had 3 Chis at this time and they were all great: friendly, attentive, courteous. I found them delightful. I'm pretty darn sure they were so nice largely because of her careful training - training that consisted of clear expectations, boundaries and plenty of rewards. OTOH presently we have a chocolate tri Chi down the block from us. His owners will let him off leash when they are outside. He ignores people but thinks he's biggest baddest stud dog around when it comes to other male dogs. Several times he has run out into the street and "attacked" Pablo, my big smooth collie while we were on a walk. He (I've been told his name but it's Chinese and I just can't grasp & hold it my mind) would bark & snarl ferociously and nip at Pabby's legs and feet but doesn't have the bite strength to do anything more than scratch the skin. Poor Pablo, who's a peaceful sort, just lifts up his feet one by one with a pained sorrowful expression. His owners think it' the funniest thing to see their teeny tiny Chi (about the size of Pablo's head) "intimidate" such a big dog. Ha ha. A pretty stupid attitude considering that not all big dogs are confirmed pacifists like Pablo and someday this little Napoleon is gonna meet his Waterloo. Hopefully he'll just get his clock cleaned and not killed outright . Chris, her nice Smoothies and one really cute visiting Golden puppy, Zeffie the Queen; Peaceful, Patient, Pacifist Pablo (this collie was brought to you by the letter "P") and Nicky |
