My dog has never had any health issues and was just 2 months ago
walking twice a day about 1.5 miles. He was a very healthy dog. Now he
just won't eat and I've tried cooking special steak, broth, wet food,
everything.. I think now that he is even too weak to eat even if he
wanted to. Each night I have to hand-feed him, as he is even too weak
to stand for very long.

The vet doctor tested him for various diseases and gave the dog
antibiotics for a while, but nothing helps. Doctor says he's
stumped.... 800 dollars later and he's stumped..He wants me to see a
specialist now, but I am wondering if it will do any good...

It all started when my basset developed a rashy, scabby sores on his
skin which I thought were allergies. He was still eating fine, just
always scratching and looked uncomfortable. So I took him to the vet
and the doc gave him allergy medicine, the same kind you give to
people. It was some over the counter drug. This helped his skin
(sores now all gone) but made him sleepy as allergy medicine can do. I
took him off this medicine but then he began not to eat and has been
starving himself for weeks now. He's lost 20% of his weight, maybe
more.. Not sure if it has anything to do with the medicine or if that
is just a coincidence.

I went back to the doc and he ran his tests, gave him fluids with an
I.V. and sent us home. The poor dog really looks bad and I am out of
ideas... He seems to like wet cat food, but he won't eat enough to get
healthy again. What could it be??
