Default Elevated Post Bile Acids in Sheltie

I have a 4 year old Sheltie for whom a routine blood test last year
showed elevated post prandial bile acids, but nothing
else. Her liver enzymes are normal, her fasting bile acids are low
normal. We have repeated the test two more times in the last
6 months, each time showing only her post bile acids elevated (60, then 25,
then 160).

The vet says they do not think there is liver damage, and that the
likely cause is stress at the vets, or the fact that she is being
fed strange food.

The vet tells us that we could do an ultrasound, though he doesn't
think it necessary, and that we should just wait and retest in
6 months.

I am concerned about a portosystem shunt, though he never mentioned
it as a possible cause of the single high number.

Is anyone familiar with possible explanations for this kind of result?
