Recently our Scottie became ill while I was away for 2 weeks. The kids
continued her routine but she started with the runs and began pooping mucus and small amounts of blood. Anyway, the vet said boiled rice and chicken only. I cooked and fed her and in three days she was OK. I don't think it was her food, I think she was upset. I would like to cook for her all the time, it's fun and she sure likes it. I'll start a search but would like to know just what I can cook for her. She's an old Scottie, 12 now, doesn't eat that much, one can of food a day. Any help is much appreciated. |

I've heard good things about Dr Strombeck's book, _Home-Prepared Dog & Cat Diets_: http://www.dogwise.com/ItemDetails.cfm?ID=CDN180 -- --Matt. Rocky's a Dog. |

But also, since she is an old sweetie, do have a good physical workup
done first..... so you'll know where you're starting. Cooking for your dog is a major committment and you will need to do a LOT of reading first. It isn't easy.... until you have the information you need. There are several good books with recipes for dog foods, and animal nutritionists... dieticians for pets... can even help you design a customized diet. Jo Wolf Martinez, Georgia |
