Default Re. Bichon Freise

Thank you to the people who replied to my request for information and advice
on Bichon Freise especially for Molly who provided useful links.

Maybe we should explain.

We have inherited a two year old Bichon Freise, with a pedigree, from our
daughter.
She has two young girls herself, four and six, plus a full time job.
She therefore does not have the time to give him sufficient attention to
look after him or to give him the exercise he needs and enjoys.
During the days he was left on his own he would build up excess energy. Thus
when Lynda and the girls arrived home from school and work there was chaos -
both dog and girls became hyped etc. etc. The poor dog was becoming
neurotic. I'm sure you appreciate the story.

We looked after the dog during a holiday period and suggested that this
became permanent - to the delight of our daughter and husband.
The dog has been with us for four weeks now and is less excitable and
appears happy and settled.

We bought and borrowed books from the library etc. etc.

We approached this Newsgroup seeking personal experiences from like Bichon
owners.

Best Wishes and Happpppppppy Everythings,

Len and Val, Weston-SUPER-Mare.

Hi ,
Whats your dogs name? I don't have one myself but when I was looking
for a rescue dog I did consider adopting a rescue bichon. They are
lovely little dogs. I'm sure there must be a group for bichon lovers
Yahoo has moderated groups , have you tried there? or maybe do a
search on Google for a group.

I don't own bichons, nor have I ever, however I am a long time dog owner
with at present 10 dogs, and over the years have had many breeds. I also
used to show and breed. Although I cannot give you any more infor specific
to the breed that you cannot find yourself on the internet I can tell you
that I am sure the little dog is much happier with you.
I have several male dogs here at present. One is a little lhasa apso which
was used at stud, the others are all neutered. The lhasa is the one
constantly picking on the other males and causing fights. Luckily because my
other boys are neutered they are more inclined to run away than stand their
ground and fight because they are all bigger than him and could kill him. He
is also making my house stink by cocking his leg and marking his territory
up the curtains, the cupboards, the door frames and the like.
Pet male housedogs are best neutered, and stud dogs are best kept in
kennels where their obnoxious but natural habits are not a problem.
Might I ask why you considered breeding your dog?
Was he purchased as a pup from a well known show breeder or a one off
backyard breeder or dog dealer?
To give us some clue as to his breeding it would be helpful if you could
supply his KC registered name.
