Just got back from the vet earlier today - while the biopsy has yet to be
confirmed, the x-rays were telling- my greyhound has at least one tumor (maybe more) growing on her sternum - so much so that one of the sternum bones is missing (may have atrophied into the tumor. Waiting to get definitive results from the biopsy. I know the prognosis isn't very good, but I wanted to get some advice on possible treatments - I've been searching the web for info, but I also though I'd ask here as well. Money is not an issue - it's more a matter of quality of life, as I don't want to make the poor girl suffer. We live in the Tahoe area so driving down to the Vet school at Davis is an option. Except for the lump on her chest, she seems fine - enjoys walks in the forest, has a good appetite - can jump up on the bed and couch. But the tumor seems to have appeared in a matter of weeks, and I am very despondent. I've had her for over 7 years, and she was most likely 4 or 5 when I got her. I originally had four sighthounds (2 whippets, 2 greyhounds) - all rescues - but my greyhound boy had to be put to sleep two years ago after he wasted away from a gastrointestinal illness, and one of my whippets has an enlarged heart and is only expected to live a year at most. I guess this is what happens when everyone gets old but it doesn't make it any easier. Bill Kraus you can email me at bkraus at digitalbiology dot com. |
