Have we heard from Suja's family in India? Thanks for asking, Lia. Friends and family back home are safe and sound. My family is along the West coast of India, which wasn't really affected, and the one family we know who could've been affected live far enough away from the coast to have not suffered. Some friends of my cousin in California were on a vacation to Indonesia when this happened. The guy survived, but lost his wife, daughter and Son-In-Law. Suja |

Some friends of my cousin in California were on a vacation to Indonesia when this happened. The guy survived, but lost his wife, daughter and Son-In-Law. Horrible. Your friend's story is the first I've heard with a personal connection (as opposed to news reports) with an unhappy ending. My neighbors are from Sri Lanka (Tamil). Practically their whole family is there and unharmed, but it was an uneasy few hours until they got word. I'm glad to hear your family is O.K. I've been in Miami swimming in those magnificent waves which has to be up there with the best feelings in the world and thinking the oddest thoughts about the power of the ocean. We just got Cubbe from the vet's boarding kennel. She was on Amoxicillin, but they did another urinalysis and switched her to an even stronger antibiotic. She obviously feels fine, but I'm a little freaked by how persistent this infection has been. Meanwhile, dog news from Miami: I spent New Year's eve at a wedding party for my brother and the midnight moment with Harrison who is a flop earred mutt and a tad uneasy with loud noises. Harrison is an extremely friendly agreeable boy. Earlier in the evening, he'd gone over to visit the neighbors. With all the confusion, no one had noticed he was gone. When the neighbor was ready to leave for her own party, she returned him which left my new sister-in-law feeling remiss for not paying attention. The neighbor assured her that Harrison comes to visit all the time and is always welcome. --Lia |
