Default Haircut for Husky

I live in So. California and have a Siberian Husky. I have been told that
their thick coat helps keep them cool in the summer. I was thinking of
getting him clipped around Memorial Day since that's when he starts
shedding. Is this advisable? He has a big dog house and a covered patio
for shade and a big tub of water that he stands, drinks, and dunks his face
into to keep cool.

Hi:

My big girl KC, a lab/shep mix just loves the snow. She'll just lay there
and push her whole head under the snow to sniff the ground.
OTOH, she does not do as well in the hottest part of summer. What I'll do
for her then is shave her down leaving her hair about 1/4"-1/2" longer

than
the undercoat. That way she gets relief from the heat, but no sunburn.

Thanks. I think I'll try it this year. I'll need some doggy downers for my
Husky to get him to sit still. I have a Husky/Shep/ Lab mix too but she'll
be OK with a clipjob.

I have Siberian Huskies and wouldn't consider clipping them,
myself. The coat never comes in right again. Have you
considered just a belly clip?

Not that this is what the OP was considering, but worth taking a look at
nevertheless:
