Default Help, my Border Terrier won't eat properly

Hi Everyone

I have an 18 month-old spayed Border Terrier bitch.

She is very active and enjoys running around the park, swimming,
socialising with other dogs and generally getting into mischief as I
would expect a young dog to do.

We take her for three good walks each day and she gets plenty of
exercise.

Unfortunately, despite all of this exercise, she doesn't eat properly
and has never done so since we've had her. Sometimes she will go for
up to two days without eating and this worries me greatly.

We have tried to tempt her with home cooked meat from the butcher's
shop, most of the proprietary dog foods available such as Caesar and
Pedigree as well as specialist organic dog food which is free from
artificial additives, colourings and preservatives. Whenever we try
her with something new, she eats a little bit and then totally refuses
to eat anymore and we end up having to take it to the local dog home.

One thing that I have noticed is that she is more inclined to eat when
she is amongst other dogs such as on the park or at a friend's house
who also owns a dog. I suppose that she feels that she's in
competition with the other dogs.

I would be very grateful if someone could please advise me on what to
do in this situation as it is causing me a lot of worry and stress.
I have got to the stage where I am reluctant to leave her on her own
even for a day as her eating habits are so poor.

Are all Border Terriers the same ?

Maybe there is a supplement that she could take to boost her
metabolism.

Thanks in anticipation
Dorothy
