Which is something I've found about some people and small dogs - they

You know, I used to consider myself a non-small dog person. The more
dogs (of all sizes) that I met, the more I realized that it isn't so
much the dog, but the owner. I have never had any problems with any
dogs regardless of size, that are well behaved. It just so happens that
most of the obnoxious ones tend to be small and have clueless owners.
Or have balls and clueless owners. Or both. Either way, clueless
owners seem to be the common factor.

One of the things I have noticed is that folks tend to pick up little dogs
instead of training. I have a good friend who has a maltese with a dog
aggression problem and a barking problem - every time he does something
inappropriate, she picks him up. Since he enjoys being picked up, its
rewarding the behavior.
