Default RESCUE ADOPTION TRANSPORTATION NEEDED NC TO SD

Hello.....I am in the process of adopting what in my opinion is the cutest
lil pup in the world. He is a combination of SharPei and Cocker Spaniel.
The biggest problem actually the only problem is that I live in Eastern
South Dakota and he is located in Western North Carolina. I don't know if
there are transportation networks in the dog rescue world but I am adopting
him from a Petfinder Dog Rescue site and I live in Sioux Falls SD and there
are transportation problems for me to get to NC. If anyone would be
traveling this way.....anywhere this way and would be willing to transport
this jewel of a little guy for me..........it would be a Godsend for me.
Its not that I don't want to adopt locally, I have found that most of the
adoptable dogs in my region are much larger breeds and I live in an apt
where size does become an issue. I lost my only beloved dog to Cancer this
past Friday after 11.5 years of constant companionship. I had adopted him
at age three and we were inseparable companions for many years...the last
11.5 years. I miss him so much and I have lots of love to give to this new
little guy and right now the only problem is getting him from North Carolina
to South Dakota.

If anyone would be willing to help or could help me brainstorm with some
options, please contact me at this address

Thank You

Why don't you fly the dog home? I'm on Petfinder and fly dogs all over the
US. Transports are a PITA to arrange. I think Delta's hub is in Charlotte.
It's going to cost you, but you'll get the dog in hours, not days. The
shipping rates are based on crate size. He'll need a airline approved crate,
a health certificate saying that he is healthy enough to travel. FYI cargo
holds are pressurized and heated these days. The main concern would be
temperatures on the tarmac during loading.

AFAIK, there are two Yahoo Groups that organize such transports. They
are [rollingrescue] and [TRUCK-N-PAWS]. Go to www.yahoogroups.com and

sign
up for these groups. Then get someone to organize a transport for you.

There are several Rescue Transport groups in Yahoo, including several
state-specific ones. Put "rescue transport" in the Search box of Yahoo
Groups and you will find several matches.

For example:

25 Transport_Support
This list is for transports related posts only. Started to help fellow
rescues with transporting animals from high-kill shelters. All states
posting welcome! We also welcome newly adoptive parents of shelter/rescue
pets to post here to ask for help. DOGS/CATS MUST BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED
PRIOR TO TRANSPORT IF GOING TO FOREVER HOME. Drivers, Fosters and
Coordinators - please add your names to the database! If you need transport
help, please fill out the form COMPLETELY in the FILE section and post ...

75 DogTransport
This list is for assisting rescues and shelter in finding drivers to take
dogs to rescue/forever homes. NO FLAMING allowed on list. If you have a cat
transport, please see our sister list CatTransport. If you have a
dog-releated tidbit which is NOT transport related, please post it to
DogTransportChat. If you have a cat-related, non-transport item, please post
it to CatTransportChat. Thank you for helping streamline the emails so that
more can be helped! Be sure to stop by the database and fill ...

130 RescueTransport
This list is dedicated to the transportation of Rescue animals. It is a
resource in the transportation needs of rescue animals. This list IS NOT for
animals needing to be rescued. Please limit posts to animals that have
already been rescued and need transport. Thank you.

The original poster may also want to consider asking the group they're
rescuing from if there is anyone who can help coordinate a transport. NC to
SD can be done, however the poster may want to offer to drive a decent
amount for the last leg, because this time of year it may be hard to fill
some of those.
