Hi,

I have a dog for about 6 months, she's a 3 year old Beagle. I rescued
her from the pound. I found out that she was living in a home where she
was to stay outside all the time. Consequently, she's now afraid of
going out in the yard by herself, even though she has a doggie-door and
knows how to use it. She is especifically afraid of going out when it
rains. I've tried being with her outside but she gets bored and wants
to go in immediately after going potty. I try to play with her, but she
doesn't really know how. Any ideas or any help to try to get her over
this fear?

I have a 9-13 year old beagle. She was obviously a kennel dog before I got
her. She HATES going outside, summer, winter, spring, fall, Sun, snow,
rain.
We take her out to potty, and DON'T allow her in until she does. And let
her spend the rest of the day on the couch unless we go work in the fields
or take her hunting. So essentially she's a couch potato in the winter.
except for weekends.
I doubt we are going to change anything, and havent tried. If she likes the
couch, so be it.
She does like to hunt.
