Default Puppy Mill Purchase

This was on an e-mail list, with a request to forward.

From:
Subject: Group formed for all interested in Haven's Mill Purchase and
Reformation

So as not to bog any list down with email regarding the subject, a
group has
been formed through yahoogroups.com, if you are interested in being a
part of
this far reaching effort, please go to yahoogroups and join the group.
It is
called Puppymill Purchase Coalition. Email posts go to
.

Please forward this email on to any lists or individuals who may be
helpful
and interested in assisting with this effort.

The basics:
Second largest dog breeding facility in the country, with in excess of
600
breeding females and 200-300 adult males plus any current litters of
puppies at
time of sale.
State of the art kennel facilities located in South Central Wisconsin.
Owner has agreed to sell to a group such as this that would change the
direction of the business from one of production to one of education /
rescue /
shelter / rehoming.
Needed: Those with experience in fundraising, administration of a
non-profit, grant writing, journalism, animal rescue and animal
sheltering and all of
those who love dogs who want to participate in any way possible.
It is a large dream but it is possible. Very possible.
Of course if we buy this, the owner has more money....but he is
getting out
of the business. He is almost 70 years old. If those of us who
have worked
for and dreamed of a way to turn the tide of pet overpopulation and
the sale
of pet store puppies do not step forward now, then when will we?

Think of all the celebrities to whom this amount of money would be
completely
within the realm of possibility. Many of them adopt from shelters.
Julia
Roberts, Alicia Silverstone, Charlize Theron, Edward Norton and too
many more
to name.

Think of the public personalities that could help support this as well
as the
media. Animal Planet?
Oprah?

Think of the existing animal groups, sanctuaries, funds (like Maddies
Fund)
whether you are in agreement with them or not, we all care about the
animals
right?

EVEN IF YOU ONLY THINK OF US, IF THERE ARE 100,000 OF US WHO CARE, IT
MEANS
$20 PER PERSON! I know that there are well in excess of 100,000
rescue and
shelter people nationwide (and these puppies from this kennel are
shipped
nationwide) who would welcome the end of the stream of puppies from
this facility.
TWENTY DOLLARS FOLKS!

So please, join the group, get the word out, USE YOUR CONTACTS.
Dream big,
do big.

Yes you can forward!
