Belongs in .breeds, but there is more traffic here, so I'll post it here as well. Came across a rare breed of dog today at the dog park. Massive critter. 10 month old puppy weighs about 140 lbs. My reading tells me that the dogs are actually supposed to top out at around 140 lbs., but some other site said something about there being a split within the breed, with a lighter, smaller type, and a more heavy type that tops out at near 200 lbs. Coat length was more along the lines of a Malamute, and this one was blowing it in tufts. Colors could be yellow, fawn, red, black, red-brown and wolf grey. Colors can be broken, particolored or brindle, although single colors are desirable. This one was drooling gobs, and flinging it around, although the owner said that he doesn't normally do that. Considering the kind of jowls he had, I wasn't surprised by that output. Kind of cool to watch him move, as his gait is more of a trot, which is apparently appropriate for the breed. Considering that the breed is supposed to be aloof with both humans and other dogs, I was surprised by how well he did at the dog park. He was just a big, goofy puppy, and seemed happy getting all the pets he could. Any more information I can provide will make it a dead giveaway (like classification, group, what they were historically used for, etc.). Suja |

He was very friendly but scaring the crap out of pedestrians. I was able to return him to his owners later. |
