It's usually very well meant, just problematic! Do consider treating
them more like individuals - they can become too reliant on each other's presence. Even if it's just taking ONE of them in the car on the long drive to civilization (like getting a Sonic burger!). I have been doing that. When I go out to do my photography, I bring one or the other of 'em with me. We take lots of drives together, and we go on walkies, etc, alone sometimes. I agree, I do get better more obedient responses when they are not distracting one another. They do sleep all in a pile, though, and obviously love each other - except for the food thing. And.... just in time. We had a total of about 8" of snow last week. You know, I went to sleep that Sunday, hearing things like "Blizzard" and "8-12 inches, likely". Woke up the following morning, and there was nothing on the ground. When all was said and done, we got about 4" on the grass, and close to nothing on the roads. Yesterday was 70 degrees and it was almost all gone (except for piles where we shoveled). Yesterday was just loverly. Khan of course doesn't think so. Mud city. Only today is 32, it's snowing like mad, and everything is white again. I took the dogs out for their walk around 9:30 this morning. It was "interesting" out there. The wind was blowing all that snow around, and visibility was horrid, yet the surfaces aren't altogether too warm, so the ground was slushy and muddy, and the little streams that I can normally wade through or hop over were not passable. Khan had a blast though, and looked like The Abominable Snow Dog by the time we were done. Of course, by the time I came back, fed the dogs and fed myself, it has all stopped. Figures. damn B'more weather! I liked yesterday! You got it. Here I am, already thinking about pruning and spring cleanup, and we have snow. Blech! Suja |

oups.com... so order one on-line and tether the dogs in the meantime. Well, I offered to drive over to Rocky Mount and get one this weekend, that would be quicker. ??? Bill, the best crates I've used, and the cheapest prices I've found (crate-wise in general) have been online at www.jbpet.com I have no personal interest in promoting their site except that as a longtime, very satisfied customer. Even with shipping their crates are cheaper (and sturdier) than what you'd get from Petsmart. You may want to try that. I'm not sure what city you're in but if you're in the sticks near Rocky Mount then I know you're out there. -- Tara |

Thank you very much. I am a photographer in my spare time, and I'm
trying to get better. I am at home for lunch right now, watching over them and typing on my laptop. Thank goodness for wireless networking! Best Regards, Bill Mattocks |

Until Sunday morning, the yard was still totally covered in snow and ice. Yesterday was just loverly. Khan of course doesn't think so. It was great - t-shirt weather and I was in heaven. JUST starting to stop here at noon. The wind is impressive. The trees and my deck and the grass and pool cover are all covered with snow, but the pavement is clear. I want it gone. You got it. Here I am, already thinking about pruning and spring cleanup, and we have snow. Blech! Yep - looking at all of the spring magazines and catalogs and planning patio and yard projects and then this! It's not fair! Going to southern VA for a flyball tournament next weekend, which promises a shot of spring, but I want it to get there and stay there here. OTOH, I know how I've sat through more than one Opening Day in snow, as many as Ive been to in sleeveless shirt and shorts! -- Janet B www.bestfriendsdogobedience.com http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bestfr...ence/my_photos |

Let's see. We got them in January, and we were told they were ten
weeks old then, had been born just before or after Thanksgiving. So I took these photos in January (before we got their crate, even - notice the blanket on the floor) and now it is the second week in March. I guess that means they are 4 or 4 1/2 months old? Something like that. They've doubled in size, lost that fluffy soft puppy fur and now have some kind of wiry short hair that's wavy and lays close to their bodies. Don't know what breeds usually have fur like that. Anyway, thanks! Best Regards, Bill Mattocks |
