Default Kirkland Super Premium Chicken and Rice Dog Food

FYI - For those on a budget looking for a good quality food, I was in
Costco last night and noticed the Kirkland Super Premium Chicken and
Rice dog food. A 40 pound bag was priced at $15.29! I thought for
sure this stuff was going to loaded with Corn Meal and By-Products but
I was shocked when I read the ingredients. The ingredient list is as
good as any I've seen and the food is made by Diamond. No Corn, Wheat,
Soy or By-Products. Fresh Chicken and Chicken Meal as the first 2
ingredients followed by Whole grain brown rice and cracked pearled
barley. Lots of fruits, veggies and plenty of anti-oxidants too! I
picked up a bag to mix in with my Wellness and the dogs really like it.
A super deal at $15 for 40 Pounds! They also had a similar lamb based,
puppy and senior formula for the same price.

"Fresh" as in never frozen. The point is that they use fresh Chicken
and Chicken meal as their first two ingredients but you wouldn't know
anything about using actual meat in dog food, would you Mr. Corn n' Soy
Meal? What's wrong, does the thought of a quality dog food at $15 for
40 pounds emit a big vacuum sound within the corporate halls of Hill's
Colgate / Palmolive?

BTW, I sent an info request to Hills a week ago but never received a
response. I guess my questions are in queue behind dish pan hands and
teeth whitening issues! I won't hold my breath for a response...

Now get back out there and shuck some more corn for that fabulous food
of yours!

Kirland Signature is a Diamond product, the same company that
manufactures a myriad of different products. Diamond Chucnk, Nutr
Nuggets, Professional, Premium Edge, Nutra Nuggets Gold for overseas.
They also produced the Bayer Halethy Life product until that product
was withdrawn from the market. COSTCO sources a 3rd party manufacturer
to create a price point food. You get what you pay for. Take a look at
the calcium and phosphorus levels in the food.

I already stated that Kirkland "Costco" simply distributes the food
that is actually made by Diamond, a well known and reputable pet food
manufacturer. Here's a link to Diamond for more info

Diamond also manufactures Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul which
is almost the identical formula as the Kirkland Super Premium Chicken
and Rice minus the turkey, duck, salmon (Kirkland uses fish meal) and
white rice. Regarding Calcium and Phosphorus levels, I'm sure you'll
find this page extremely irritating

Why on earth would I find it "annoying". It looks very much like the
lecture I have already given you a number of times about meat meals and
why there are differences in meat meals you cannot detect until you
look at the calcium number - kudo's to Diamond for talking about Low
Ash meat meals.

At least they are talking about it. One has to wonder why they spend a
lot of time talking about low ash meat meals and low calcium meat meals
and then don't bother to give you the calcium levels in thier
foods????? Could it be that Chicken Soup Adult Canine has +1.5% DMB
calcium level - well above the 1.0% appropriate for an adult dog? Nah -
no company would spend a lot of time talking about the value of Low Ash
meat meals on thier web site and then produce a food with high calcium
levels in it would they? Maybe you ought to call thier help desk and
ask them what the DMB calcium level is in the adult Canine food. We'll
be waiting for you to report back.

Done! I asked them for their DMB calcium levels and phosphorus info as
well. I will certainly post their response. BTW, I sent Hill's a
similar question about a week ago and I still have not received a
response...

What utter nonsense!
Who do you think you're kidding - there no need to ask, it's posted on
the website for everyone and anyone to access anytime.

Values are posted for all products in all four methods.
Guaranteed analysis
As Fed Analysis
Dry Matter Analysis
gm/mg/mcg per 100 kcal

Of course you know this as you've posted copied and pasted ingredient
labels numerous times and the nutrient numbers are right above the
ingredient panels.
