I came home tonight to find her wobbly and walking crooked. I got her
outside and she was very unsteady on her feet and fell over a couple times while walking through the yard. She has that facial nerve paralysis which was much worse when I got home so I wasn't sure if the wobbliness was caused from that or something else. I called my backup vet and got her in for the last appointment of the day and rushed her over. After x-rays & lab work it turns out there is some sort of infection going on. He white blood count was elevated and he thinks that is what is making her dizzy and off balance. He gave her a shot and an antibiotic to bring home. She seemed a bit more steady on her feet once we got home, ate some food and drank a bunch of water and I'm to call in the morning and let him know if she's doing any better. I'm going to take her outside again before heading to bed "that is if she'll get up" if not It'll probably be a 3 am potty break. This is just so frustrating. He says if the antibiotic doesn't do the trick and it's not a pinched nerve then there is the possibility of a brain tumor. That's the last thing I wanted to hear. For 10 years she's perfectly fine not so much as a cold and now all this in less than a month. Thanks for asking about her. The Xrays show normal no tumors or anything
going on with her lungs. The only noticable stuff was some tiny bit of arthritis on the spine. As for the labs the only thing that was out of wack was the white blood count everything else showed normal. The vet had given her an shot for the fever and pain medication so he had me wait till morning to give her the Rimadyl. Now this morning at 6 she seemed a bit steadier on her feet and I managed to get her to eat some. When I called at 12 Mike said she was pacing in circles and he had carried her out to pee but she was still on her feet. He gave her the antibiotic and some food. He went to work at 2 and I got home at 7 to find her curled up in a ball in the living room and she won't get up. She seems like she is in pain so I gave her another dose of Rimadyl which the vet said I might have to do. I'm hoping in another hour when Mike gets home we can get her up on her feet and out to pee. The only thing she would eat was a few table spoons of beef baby food. I even cooked up some meat hoping the smell would bring her round but she wouldn't touch it. I'm going to try some pudding and some peanut butter on dog kibble so I can get something into her stomach along with her next dose of antibiotic. I did call the vet today and he said he didn't expect to see any drastic changes until 2 or 3 days but if she is still like this in the morning I'm calling and getting her in tomarrow. I need to know what's going on. I hate seeing her like this and if this isn't the infection causing this and it's something else I want to know. I dread the thought of loosing her but this isn't right either and I won't let her go on like this. Celeste "buglady" wrote in message nk.net... Celeste,
Perhaps you should take her to a specialist in emergency medicine. Phil "Spot" wrote in message news:dR5_d.6254$qN3.4659@trndny01... Thanks for asking about her.
