Default Friday Four

Friday turned four on March 22nd. Most of us here have a hard
time understanding how our dog got that old that fast, and I'm
no exception. It was just yesterday that I took Friday (nee
Jade) on a one day daytrip from his foster home. He was 7
months old.

This week, when I mentioned to agility friends that he'd turned
4, they were amazed - they thought he was a year or two older,
but not because of the way he looks or behaves, but because he's
wormed his way into everyone's life and acts like he's always
been there.

There's not a human he doesn't like - he recognises casual
acquaintances from a distance and does his best to yank my leash
arm from its socket when he spots a good friend (he has many).
There's hardly a dog he doesn't like, but his favourites are
those breeds which friends own - for example, he loves all
Rotties, whether or not they're attached to Auntie Lynn.

He bonded to Rocky from Day One, so even though he didn't know
his name yet, his recall was perfect in off-leash areas - I just
called Rocky and Friday followed behind. I wasted money on a
flexi-lead - I thought I'd need it to teach him to pee in the
designated area. Nope, first time and every time.

That daytrip at 7 months old? I took him to my agility club's
"club day". It took a little coaxing to get him through that
first tunnel, but within a few hours he was doing the teeter off
leash. And, after less than 2 years competing and 8 or so
trials, he was at the Master's level, seemingly without effort
on my part.

Happy birthday Friday. The dog that makes me look like a great
handler and a great trainer. The dog that makes me look like a
horrible handler and a horrible trainer.

Who would've thunk it? Friday's FOUR! In my mind, he's two for some
reason. Happy Birthday, Friday! Hope you had a very special day.

Hope you don't mind my tagging along to your thread. Pan turned four
today. Happy Birthday to my Big GooberGirl.

I am amazed too. Apparently, I have been hanging out here for much longer
than I thought.

Happy Birthday Friday, the best looking redheaded guy I ever saw.

LOL. Yanno - for a long time in my teens, I didn't think I was
interested in red-headed guys. Then I realized that the majority of
guys I had dated WERE redheads (including my first date). Huh. Then
I married one. Almost 24 years ago (gad - where does time go?).

Still, Friday is my idea of a very attractive redhead.

Happy belated birthday, Friday! I hope your dad got you something nice. Or
stinky. Or nice and stinky.
