I just put up a whole bunch of pictures of her, if anyone cares to see.
(and if you scroll down, you get a couple of pictures of my German Shep from last summer, before he passed away.) http://miedvied.blogspot.com |

I was very sorry to see her go, but I will forever be a vocal and enthusiastic supporter of Jacquet's Boxers (www.jacquetboxers.com) and of the breed as a whole - she was /remarkable/. I'm sure that Ashes was remarkable, and I'm sorry that you had to return her. I can't imagine going through something like that. I looked at Ashes' breeder's website, and maybe the full story isn't there, but what makes you enthusiastic about them as a breeder of a dog for you? -- --Matt. Rocky's a Dog. |

I looked at Ashes' breeder's website, and maybe the full story isn't there, but what makes you enthusiastic about them as a breeder of a dog for you? Well, I was first tipped off when I saw the AKC Breed Book for boxers, and the pictures throughout the book were almost exclusively of Jacquet boxers (all champions.) I then went to the breeder, met the various sires they kept on-site, and they were all gorgeous, well-behaved dogs. I then spent an hour playing with Ashes, before I settled on her, saw the papers, et al. Met all the people that work with the dogs. Took her home. Lived with her for a week. I can say, for one thing, that the people at this kennel honestly *love* their dogs. Rick is probably the biggest dog-lover I've ever seen in my life. And, as to their skill at breeding, ... their dogs are amazing. I've played with several of them (most of them champions, a couple not because of small problems - one, for instance, had ears that tipped inward) and all were amazingly beautiful, well-tempered dogs. Ashes, specifically, was an extremely fast learner, wonderful with people, other dogs, my nieces (the oldest of them only 3)... et al. |

Rick's a nice guy, but Jacquet nowadays mostly stacks shows to make
champions, which you can do if you breed 10,000 litters/year, and put breeding contracts on all of them. "Kennel making most champions" is one of those awards that doesn't take into account the fact that people can supply enough dogs to a local show to virtually guarantee wins for their dogs. In actual competition there hasn't been much going on for them in recent years. |
