Default westie woes

Have a 4 year old male Westie in fine health. We've had him for 6
months. All shots up to date, heartworm meds monthly, Frontline as
well. Very playful, very good dog. Loves to run around in lawn, chase
his toys.

Since the weekend, however, he's been very sluggish; not eating much
(not even his fav treats), drinking less. Food has not changed, neither
have daily routines.

Couple of issues:

-- He's got matching hotspots on the inside of his hind legs, which
we've been treating.

-- He's been scratching underneath, which looks pinker than usual. He
cries if he scratches the right spot

-- It's gotten oppressively hot here (very humid, 80s and 90s) in the
last week, coinciding with his mood change

-- If I take him out, he'll run to a spot in the lawn and dive face
first down into it, stay laying down and look at me pathetically.

-- Won't pee in normal spot; have to take him for a walk.

Theories:

1. It's just to hot for him
2. Could he have burned his underside laying on a hot deck this
weekend? (Whole family out in pool, etc)
3. Ate something we don't know about?
4. Allergies?

Does this sound familiar to anyone? We need some advice.
Thanks

I also have a Westie. The behavior you described doesn't sound normal for a
Westie. My suggestion is to have your vet look at him as soon as possible.

Not at the moment, however. He may have been in good health, right now he
has a health issue

months. All shots up to date, heartworm meds monthly, Frontline as

One or two days is OK to wait. By the time I get to the third day I'm
defintely on my way to the vet.

Couple of issues:

-- He's got matching hotspots on the inside of his hind legs, which
we've been treating.

-- He's been scratching underneath, which looks pinker than usual. He

Hot spots can get infected.

1. It's just to hot for him

That *could* be - but personally if I didn't *know* that was the issue I'd
be on the way to my vet.

2. Could he have burned his underside laying on a hot deck this
weekend? (Whole family out in pool, etc)

Unlikley to account for the other symptoms.

3. Ate something we don't know about?

Yup. Or ould be some other physical problem. They do come on suddenly.

4. Allergies?

Does not entreily fit the symptoms - hot spots yes, lack of appetite and
sluggishness - not usually.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? We need some advice.

Vet.
