Default German Shepherd attacking my mom?

My mom just got a German Shepherd at 9 wks, and it is now 14 wks. She
believes that the dog is turning aggressive toward her and she is
becoming more afraid of her dog. My inclination is to believe that the
puppy just wants to play, but she's considering giving up the dog.
Today she went to an emergency care facility for bites, no stitches,
but a tetnus shot and antibiotics. I was wondering if it might help to
get another puppy to displace the puppy energy or for her to just give
it up.

It's a very bad idea to get another puppy if she can't handle the one
she has already. If she's really afraid of it, giving it up is probably
the right thing to do. If she's open to the idea, you could look
into finding a trainer who can help her get through this stage. But
if she isn't, I think it would be better to give it up now rather than
wait until it's an adult uncontrollable GSD.

This is a really good example about why responisible breeding is so
critical. A responsible breeder proably would never have placed the dog
with her, but having done so would either be providing support and
assistance or taking the dog back.

Contact German Shepherd rescue, There are so many crappy breeders selling
puppies into situations that aren't right that rescue can't begin to save
a fraction of the dogs, not even the puppies. But give it a shot. Maybe
your area is less overwhelmed than ours. The younger the puppy is, and
the more quickly it gets with someone ready and able to work with it the
better the puppy has for actually growing up.

No, another puppy is not the answer. No puppy is the answer. Most normal
puppies nip and bite. Puppies are not always the right choice, in fact
the are most often the wrong choice. Mature adult dogs are generally a
better bet for the inexperienced.

Where is the pup located? Perhaps I can point you toward a GSD rescue
group.

Quite often, an adult dog is a much better choice for folks who cannot
withstand the rambunctious nature of a GSD pup.
