Help! My 4 1/2 year old am staff mix has got some awful allergies. This
causes him to itch, shed and worst of all, his left eye is in rough shape. His lower eyelid is turning in and his eyelashes and hair rub right on his eye causing him to squint even more and continually make the problem worse. The vet said he can do surgery if we can get the allergies under control. The options are not looking good .He is on a fish and sweet potatoe diet, steroids, and Chlortrimeton. Any suggestions/info would be greatly appreciated. |

This is the route I had to take with my GSD, and while she will always be an "Itchy Girl", she rarely needs antihistamines or steriods. She now gets allergy shots similar to what humans do. Good luck to you and your boy. Sheri |

It couldn't hurt to move him completely to Hills Z/D diet (absolutely nothing else ingested, snacks included) to see if this helps in the food department. Rule of thumb is one bag of food or 3 weeks to see major change. -Sharon |
