Nope, no pictures yet. Maybe not for a couple of weeks, because I'm not
sure when I'm picking him up. Some of you know I was offered a Min Pin puppy from a really good breeder. I went to see puppies today, and I think I'm taking one home. His litter name is "Scarface" not because of any horrible accidents, but because he's got a cowlick on his nose. All the puppies are stag red. He's one of two larger boys they wanted me to look at--they may end up a bit over 12 1/2" so may not be showable. The other male was a very nice boy, but a bit more reserved around strange situations and people than I'd like. All of the puppies were very nice though and never dropped tails. The charmer was a bitty male who took a flying leap at me the moment he saw me then spent the rest of the hour industriously trying to remove a finger, or a shoelace, or both. He's a real forward dog, and the boy I'm taking is more in the middle--good play and toy drive, not quite so in-your-face. That's exactly what I want from this puppy, a nice, even, stable dog. I have one Cala, I don't need another. If he doesn't size out they'll finish him for the price of entry fees if I want--I probably will. And he'll do agility, rally, and tracking. They're 14 weeks old so not teeny, which is good for my house since I'm not used to little dogs! I have no clue what to call him and will ask them tonight if there's a litter theme or if he's already registered. Puppy breath! |

I went to see puppies today, and I think I'm taking one home. That's really cool. I'm really looking forward to how "Al" (Gettit? Scarface? Nudge, nudge) does in agility training. I see so few Min Pins in agility (one, actually, and he was run by the wife of a Dobe owner). -- --Matt. Rocky's a Dog. |

I've dated a few too many Als, and it's never been my favorite name anyway. Right now the naming pool is wide open. They don't have a litter theme and don't care what I name him. I'm looking for something clever but not cutesy. I may not go with the scarface thing because I can't come up with good call names from the derivatives. Al? No. Pacino? Too long. Pac? No. Cino? Sounds like a pair of pants. Tony? Um, maybe, not really doing it for me. Montana? Too long. Tana? Sounds like Dan Tana. So, I'm not terribly clever with names. Help! And we have a number of Min Pins in this area doing agility. They have several things in common. They're fast, they have minds of their own, they're easily distracted, and they have problems with contacts. So I'm going to have to get on some min pin lists and start trolling for contact suggestions. |

That's a nice age - just past little baby/toddler, but still very much a puppy you can bring up the way you want. Now, all you have to do is be ready for the questions (for the rest of his life, probably) as to whether he's related to the girls. ;-D |

Well yeah, I'm going to have to find the digital and replace the battery. He's one of two larger boys they wanted me to look at--they may end up a bit over 12 1/2" so may not be showable. But a nice size for agility. Exactly. And not quite so teeny that I'll be scared of smooshing him. That's a nice age - just past little baby/toddler, but still very much a puppy you can bring up the way you want. Yup. This is a really good, outgoing litter of puppies but I'll be ready to get him out in the real world ASAP. Now, all you have to do is be ready for the questions (for the rest of his life, probably) as to whether he's related to the girls. ;-D Well I already get "I have a miniature doverman" all the time. And at least he's solid red, so he doesn't have dobe markings. |

Well I already get "I have a miniature doverman" all the time.
