BOYKIN SPANIEL VOTED INTO AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB EVENTS
The Boykin Spaniel was approved by the American Kennel Club (AKC) to
compete in AKC Companion Dog Events and Spaniel Hunt Tests. The AKC
Board of Directors voted to promote the breed's status at their
November 7-8, 2005 meeting.
The Boykin Spaniel will be eligible to begin entering AKC Spaniel Hunt
Tests after January 1, 2006. They will be able to earn competition
titles in Obedience, Rally, Tracking and Agility after July 1, 2006.
Participation in AKC events promotes responsible dog ownership and
allows breeders to objectively evaluate their dog's natural traits
and abilities.
The Boykin Spaniel Club and Breeders Association, Inc. (BSCBAA) is the
official AKC parent club of the Boykin Spaniel. BSCBAA club members
worked diligently to meet strict AKC requirements to be allowed to
participate in the AKC events. They look forward to continuing their
pursuit of full AKC recognition which may include future admittance
into AKC Spaniel Field Trials and National Spaniel Field trial
competitions. The BSCBAA website is
