Sleddog Central has a legislative alerts page
(http://www.sleddogcentral.com/legislative/alerts.htm) .
It's not that current, but it does include a pointer to
http://nopaws.org.

Latest word on the AMSC list is that Santorum has completed a rewrite, was
given to the Dept. of Ag last week and will be made public in a few days.

And the Vermont no-crop bill has passed their Senate and is headed for the
House.

The Yahoo group BSL-UPDTES is very up to date. Today's mail re BSL is
this Missouri bill HB1686 Requires all pit bull owners to obtain a state
permit and imposes
penalties for failure to leash and muzzle a pit bull.

From Virginia
On February 7, 2006 the House of Delegates passed HB339 by a vote of 71-
28-1. This bill requires that every veterinarian in Virginia provide
county and city treasurers with client-owner names, addresses, dog age, sex,
color, primary breed, secondary breed and the breeding status of each and every
canine given a rabies vaccination. Treasurers are then required to bill
dog owners for license fees, based on the data supplied by those
veterinarians. Information in this dog owner database is to be shared with
other counties and is subject to general release and distribution under
the Freedom of Information Act. Any commercial entity may acquire
information on you and your dogs, their number, age, breed, whether they
are intact or sterilize, et al.

Don't like it, but doesn't seem a radical departure from current practice
around here. Which is EXACTLY how the slippery slope works. Get people
comfortable with one step, go on to the next. ALL laws are slippery slopes
which is why I'm in the fewer laws the better crowd. But some laws are
useful, helpful etc. Just got to keep on top of them.
