I've done this - outside every 1/2 hour, wait 5 minutes, go
back in. It worked and the dog was fine after he learned
that yes, he can go on bare ground and nothing bad will
happen (puppy had always pooped on snow before). It was
kind of an awful day but it paid off. It took until mid-

Amateur g. iirc, Noah managed to "hold it", poop-wise, for 3 days when
conditions didn't meet his expectations. Of course, his problem was that
he would *only* poop in the yard, and being a dog he didn't understand why
a week-long trip away from home couldn't include potty breaks in the usual
location. Three days.

He was a strong-willed (and strong sphinctered) little dog.
