Default Innova Query

On Mon, 20 Mar 2006 22:57:59 GMT, Monroe , clicked
their heels and said:

Used Innova for quite a few years with my dog. She is now almost 11
years and I switched her over to Innova senior formula. She doesn't
have the same "taste" for this version; won't eat it with the same
gusto she had with the regular adult Innova. I'm considering
switching back to the regular and just limiting the amount of food
available so as to not put on extra weight. Is this reasonable?

Yes. Seniors need protein support and I've never been a big fan of
"senior" foods, but especially if she doesn't like it! You're already
addressing other concerns with supplements, so as you say, that's not
a concern. You can always supplement her meals with canned pumpkin or
frozen green beans, to help her feel full without the calories.

Is the senior really a lot lower in calories?

Dunno about the senior, but I still feed Rudy, now 14, the same Lamb and
Rice, California Natural, that I've been using for years now. All of my dogs
love the NaturaPet foods.

I do supplement, and he's at his optimun weight, 55. Always was in great
shape at this weight. If I needed to'cut down' with him, I'd take out the
extra 'treat', (i.e. milkbones, or some such....)

As to the Innova, I could swear I'd see extra weight on my lab gal, Boo, if
I fed a few extra pieces of kibble! Ha!
Actually the Innova is a great food, but very high in calories, so, as I
said, dunno about the 'senior'. I do know that when feeding Innova, one does
have to adjust the amounts especially depending on how much the dog is
exercized, at various times.

Just my take,
MaryBeth

Also to the OP here's a site that contains lots of information, when looking
for info on dog foods.
