I have a 6 year old German Shepard that has been having a strange
problem. About a month ago the area above her eye became swollen. I
figured she had probably bumped it on something and hoped the swelling
would go down the next day, which it did. I was relieved and thought
the problem had resolved itself, but a couple of weeks later she got a
bump the same size in the middle of her forhead. It too went away by
the next morning. Now a couple of weeks later, the area above her eye
is swollen again! Its the middle of winter, so it couldn't be bug
bites...Does anyone have any idea what could be going on!

Tooth infection will do that kind of thing. So will certain kinds of
tumors.

Mast cell tumors act just as you describe. You need to the dog to a vet and
get a biopsy of the bump. My dog Barney had mast cell tumors and they can
be very agressive if left untreated the sooner they are diagnosed and
treated the better the outcome. These are not something to mess with. It
may be nothing more than an allergy or some sort of infection but waiting to
have her looked at could be deadly in the end.
