Default Ten month Schnau Tzu - leave in crate all day?

We just adopted/rescued a ten month old Schnauzer Shih Tzu mix a few
days ago. He seems to be already house trained and is also crate
trained (won't go in by his own, but he doesn't mind if you lead him in
.... once in he's nice and quiet for the most part and doesn't have any
accidents, etc. overnight). My wife works part time, so there will be
a few days a week that he'll be alone. Now I'm wondering, since he's
more or less crate trained should we leave him in the crate for the day
(he'll be alone about 11 hours)? Is this cruel? The other option we
were considering is trying to get him litter box trained so we could
leave him in one of the rooms with his crate, litter box, and tons of
toys. This way he'd have more room to play, etc. but will this undo
the crate training? Is 11 hours too long though in a crate? (one
night he spend about 11 hours in his crate while we were sleeping, but
I'm assuming night vs day is different?)

Thanks,
Harry

Dunno. Suggest you try spending 11 hours in physical confinement first and
then report back on your findings.

That's why I'm asking ... cause I think 11 hours is too much
personally, but since I'm new to this, I'm not familiar with what's
accepted and not accepted.

Thanks,
Harry

Yes, it's cruel. Hire a petsitter to come 1-2x or come home yourself.

Yes, it's cruel.

INDEEDY. THAT'S HOWE COME he should TRAIN his dog
to be able to ENJOY the FREEDOM of his HOWES so he
won't need to LOCK IT IN A BOX all day and all night LIKE
HOWE YOU DO YOUR OWN DOG Rudy on accHOWENT
of YOU CAN'T TRAIN IT not to DESTROY YOUR HOWES.

YOU JERRY, ARE A DOG ABUSER AND A FRAUD. YOU ABUSE PEOPLE, YOU ARE A
PERVERT, CONVICTED FELON AND YOU ABUSE ANIMALS. YOU ARE ALSO A
PATHOLOGICAL LIAR. EVERYTHING YOU SAY IS A LIE AND WILL ALWAYS BE A
LIE. YOU JUST MADE AN ASS OF YOURSELF AGAIN. GIVE IT UP AS YOU ARE
BEING MONITORED VERY CLOSELY BECAUSE YOU ARE A SICK INDIVIDUAL.

i just have to ask.. can you please not respond to everything Jerry writes
with this.. most of us have Jerry blocked.. but we get your responses. I
for one, don't really want to have to read this every time Jerry posts
anything and you decide to respond to him with this exact same message. If
you're not careful, you , too, are going to wind up in people's
killfiles....
