Hello,
Our 7 year old bassett hound is generally an outside dog, but after getting some spots cut off while she's still healing and until stiches are removed the vet asked that we keep her inside. We've had her staying in the kitchen/dining area since these are floors and she tends to pee on the carpet -- but since isolating her to this area no pee problems. Now, after being inside a full week, yesterday (Saturday) we noticed she has very little energy. She usually isn't shy about jumping up and putting her paws in someone's lap, but now she tries but only gets an inch or two off the ground. She's still her old self, wagging her tail all the time, playful, etc, but she has no energy. Could this be bcause we've had her inside for the last week and she's had little chance to run? We take her out in the mornings and evenings to potty, and on the weekends throughout the day. The area shes in inside isn't small, maybe 450 square feet, with windows and such to see outside. We have a bedding area for her inside, and most of the weekend she's spent laying in her bed. She's normally wimpering to run around and in your lap all the time, so we're abit worried. If by tomorrow afternoon (Monday) she's still with on energy we'll call the vet, but just wondering if her being inside for a week could cause this. Thanks for any suggestions -- Sam Alex |

Thanks for any suggestions -- Sam Alex Hi Sam Alex, It must be something in the air!! My Basset Hound (who will be 9 in June) started acting funny (sorta lethargic) this past Saturday. Sunday he was the same way. He didn't want to get up on his part of the sofa, and when he walked around (as little as possible), his tail was curled up in between his legs. I took him to the vet on Monday. The vet couldn't find anything wrong, so we're assuming it's his back. He probably moved wrong and twisted his back enough to be uncomfortable. He's doing much better as of yesterday afternoon and today. `Am hoping you took your wonderful Basset to the vet just in case!! How's she doing now? -- ·.·´¨ ¨)) -:¦:- ¸.·´ .·´¨¨)) Laurie ((¸¸.·´ ..·´ -:¦:- ((¸¸ ·.· *~*LiveLoveLaugh, and hangin' in there!*~* Paddle together, bail, paddle; paddle, bail; paddle towards the land. ~Hawaiian proverb |
