Thanks, everyone! I do feel SO much better! Now it's *my* turn--off I go in
about 4 hours to have a suspicious mole looked at. But if it IS a melanoma it's very small and I'm sure they can just whip it off. --Katrina |

The dermatologist took one look at it and said there is indeed every chance it was a melanoma, and took it right out--which was a little more graphic than I expected, and now I have three widely-spaced stitches. I expect the anaesthetic to wear off any second as well. He said if it was a melanoma I was there in more than plenty of time, that there is NO chance WHATSOEVER it has spread. He sent it off for biopsy and we'll know in two weeks whether I'd have been in serious danger if I'd ignored it or not. --Katrina |

Well, I'm fine!
It's interesting how we get all freaked out about the possibility of our pets being ill, but not so much about ourselves. Anyway, we hope that the mole is just an interesting mole and not much else. And here's to no more bad news, or even suspicion of bad news headed your way. Suja Takes the personal pressure off, in a way, I guess. But I definitely wasn't NOT freaked out... it's just that Saskia already had a suspicious biopsy, and "all" I had was a general practitioner saying, "You're right, that does look odd, let's get you to a dermatologist because I think you may be right on with your melanoma suspicion". He did also tell me to tell them to hurry when I made the appointment, though, which was quite worrying for me.... I guess I decided to get through Saskia's problem and *then* let mine scare the hell out of me. I do feel very... odd... today, though. Off balance. It's all over and all good news.... But it's been a really weird couple of weeks. Thanks for the well-wishes. I hope they hold. We go to the States in early May to see our families, and we each have a grandfather we haven't seen in almost six years and who may not make it--either physically or mentally--until then. Sigh. We missed my grandmother; she went in November. Here's my grandfather's website, for the interested--there's a page about my grandmother. When we're there I'll try to collect pictures and have Danny put in a page about the dogs they've had. They've had some Very Good Dogs. http://samhinton.org Thanks, Katrina |
