Default labrador ear mites

hi just a quick question for everyone, i've got a 1 year old lab who
had earmites when he was small. We had medicine that was a 2 week
course, that seems to sort things out but i have taken him back down to
the vets 4 times now, and they keep saying all they can see is slight
inflamation. so the 2 questions i have.

Are there any homemade cures for earmites?
and i would like the vet to sedate or premed my dog to do a proper
inspection of his ears, how likely is this?

anyones else have any idea?

Thanks!
