Default Occasional Urinary Incontinence

My 8 year old Sheltie is beginningto have problems "leaking". This only
seems to happen while she is lying down relaxing. She will get up from
laying on her chair and there will be a wet spot. Several months ago I
would see a spot once or twice a week, if that much. Now it seems to be
happening almost everyday. I read somewhere that some over the counter
drugs may help this problem. I'm trying to get her to the vet, but due to
finacial concerns I may have to wait.

Thanx
Steve and Zoe

When having pets, financial planning is essential. A savings account,
a credit card, whatever.

I took my 10 month old Golden to the vet yesterday for this problem
(his is not daily). For his exam, urinanalysis, and a large bottle of
meds (I think it is 2 months worth), I paid $75. The medication fo
this is not available OTC anymore. Go to the vet.

Some people think that giving a particular over-the-counter
human medication to dogs can "cure" urinary incontinence in
dogs. That can only be partially true, at best - it depends
on the reason for the incontinence. For example, it can't
be used to treat UTIs, and, indeed, while someone is wasting
time treating the wrong thing a UTI can turn into a major,
major problem. I'm 100% with you - go to the vet.
