Yesterday she's fine - today, not so much. I'm going to provide as much information as possible, but paragraph 1 (see P1) will have the overview in case someone thinks they know what it is *right off the bat.* - I looked up "skin rashes" and "skin conditions" and "skin diseases" (in dogs, dog, animals) - and read various websites through Google; however... everyone says my dog should be itchy. She isn't... it's odd. VET: I'll take her Friday night, unfortunately I won't be able too take her tonight or tommorow because of work/classes (unless someone responds right now saying take her to the emergency vet, but I really can't afford it unless it really really is life or death.) A year and three months old German-Shepperd mutt 45 pounds or so / eats Pedigree large breed formula Up to date shots, on frontline, heartguard Clean as a whistle P1 - Basically, she has these open-ended soars, which have blood coming out of some of them. They are ALL on her upper coat - as in, nothing in her belly, lower neck, chin, inner legs or towards her feet. The majority of them are towards the lower-mid back, but go all the way up to the tip of the neck before her head starts. There are none on her head, face, nose. They are about a quarter of a penny big, look like a pimple that was popped and is trying to heal - however some opened up and bled. P2 - details... some things *have* changed. I think it's stress, hives, or maybe even an allergic reaction. Here's a list of what's changed in the last week: 1. We're moving from an apt to a house, she's spent a lot of time moving back and forth with me. Last night was week 2 of going there every day, she's fine cool and collected while over there and on the drive there and back. 2. I started crating her, the crate is clean - there is no black dots, flea droppings, or anything odd. Her old sheet is still there, the one she's been sleeping in for months. She went from living in a 10x14 room to a crate, over night unfortunately. In the morning she runs in there when it's time for me to leave, however, so she seems ok. 3. She...... had a haircut. At Petco. Yeah.. I basically had her shaved down to a 1/2" cut, and a "milk bath" (the thing they recommend... sorry I'm guilty of not knowing exactly what it was, but I bought it for the nail clipping and teeth cleaning ^_^ ) First time for both. This was two days ago. She was fine last night. 4. My G/F and I have been changing roles... for the longest time I think my dog believed she was the next dog down from me - over my girlfriend and her dog - unfortunately it was because of my spoiling. So recently we sat down and talked about it, and we're going to do the dog pack as me, my g/f, my g/f dog (he's been around lot longer than my dog has) and my dog... so recently she's been treated a bit differently - doesn't go out first, etc, this may cause stress - and honestly, it's the only thing she hasn't taken to very well. SO..... I think it's something from Petco. May be stress. I don't see any signs of parasites and there isn't any animals crawling on her. I'd say there are about 100-150 of these soars though, it's kind of scary. She doesn't itch them, touching them doesn't bother her, scratching her lightly doesn't get a reaction from her, poking them doesn't bother her... she's pretending they're not there. Please advice =/ thank you -_- |

So you are one of those assholes that can't afford a dog because of a limited budget. So you are one of those assholes that gets a dog anyway. I would simply trim the hair away from the wounds, clean the area, and make a scheduled appointment for the vet. EVERYTHING a dog has is not always a medical emergency. Granted, prompt attention is warranted, but running to an emergency clinic over something that can be routinely attended to does not make this poster an abusive or neglectful owner. However your post IS abusive. |

Definitely take her to the vet, but i'm also wondering if it could be
an allergic reaction to the shampoo that they used? wonder if they didn't get all the soap out? If it were my dog i would rebathe him in a shampoo that i always use or get a oatmeal shampoo. . Does she seem to be itchy? if so i'd call the vet for a benadryl dose. Do not cancel the appt. |
