Default How to treat an ulcer?? Urgent request

I'll try to get to the point. My dog was diagnosed with Mast Cell
cancer back in Sept. After a second tumor was removed in Dec. my vet
put her on 20 mg of Prednisone a day. He said this will be a lifelong
prescription, not mentioning any potential side effects other than
nausea. Though there have been no further cancer tumors, my dog began
showing blood in her stool a couple of months ago. It was on occasion,
but increased. I had another vet do x-rays and blood work to see if the
cancer had moved inward. It had not, though it was then indicated that
long term Pred use is BAD and could cause ulcerations. I weened my dog
off Pred over a 2 week stretch. The bleeding all but stopped, though
her fur began to fall out in piles. Fearing I weened her off too fast,
I gave her 10 mg's this past Sunday, then 5 mg on Tuesday. Since
Tuesday she has been bleeding again. This time I'm completely done with
Pred as I fear the long term daily use damaged her colon. Previously,
the blood appearance was on a spot of the stool, now it's covering a
good portion of it, and is happening with every bowel movement. I'm
currently awaiting a call back from my NEW vet, as my previous has
proven to be an incompetent quack, but I am interested in hearing of
any positive ways to treat this possible colon ulceration.
