Our 16 yr female Aussie has been diagnosed with hyperparathyroid
(primary). Her calcium and PTH levels are just above normal and she is asymptomatic at present. She had surgery 8 mos. ago to remove a malignant mammary mass, but no signs of further cancer. My concern is that surgery to remove the gland will cause more problems than are present. Is there a medical or alternative therapy to reduce calcium levels while she still displays no symptoms?Anyone have any experience with this? |

It carefully goes through the steps necessary to reach the diagnosis of hyperparathyroidism. I don't kow how many people are doing the ethanol injections and I think it would be imperative to find someone who had done them before. http://dspace.library.cornell.edu/bi...003+Bishop.pdf .........Primarily, though I think it would be absolutely necessary to make sure the reason for Ca rise is not metastatic lung cancer. I would think a series of X-rays would be the first step since your dog has already had cancer surgery recently. .........good luck with your oldster. That's a fine age! buglady take out the dog before replying |

Thank you so much for the article; it clears up some questionsI had.
Xrays showed no lung problems, lymph system okay, anal glands good. She seems perfectly fine all around, and is looking forward to going to the beach for a week for the first time--loves her new life jacket! Thanks again. buglady wrote: "nj" wrote in message ups.com... Our 16 yr female Aussie has been diagnosed with hyperparathyroid (primary).
