Default Business Advice Please

To all grooming salon owners
I need advice please. New to this forum so please bear with me. To
make a long story short. I am considering opening a grooming salon in a
small town in September. I hear it is one of the slowest times of the
year since I don't have a clientele as of yet. I am very concerned and
considering postponing the date but the only thing that makes me think
I should go ahead, is there is a doggie daycare and training facility
in the same building who can bring some clients my way. Has anyone here
had similar experiance or some good advice. Also, Being a had worker, a
perfectionist and a people pleaser what is the average time to have it
self sufficient.
Thanks in advance

Do you intend to open a one person operation or will you employ others?
Have you a spouse or family that help you through the initial months?
Savings?
How large an area will you be serving and what sort of competition are you
looking at?
Have you realistically assessed your skills? Meaning will you knock the
socks off all your clients or are you just entering the trade?
How are your your veterinary references?

I am happy to help you but there is a whole lot of information you have left
out.
I've been grooming since 1973 and a Certified Master Groomer since 1983, and
I have held several national titles in grooming competitions. The shop I
work in grosses well over $900,000 a year (closing on the one million mark-
that will be a party!) and employs 15 people- it's a big, busy shop. I do
not own it but am privy to all that goes on, so could probably be of some
help to you.
