my german shepherd crossed with a boxer suffers from moulting fur all year
round. She is eleven of age, and has suffered from it since ive had her. Simple stroking brings off the fur in great amounts. Any ideas out there what to try to prevent her fur loss. She does not have any bald patches, in fact seems to grow hair remarkable quickly. |

That's what GSDs DO. I get great "tufts" (it's referred to as tufting) from Lucy (lab/gsd cross) on a regular basis. Brush, brush and more brushing. -- Janet Boss www.bestfriendsdogobedience.com |

All you can do is make certain he is getting a high quality diet with sufficient essential fatty acids, and use elbow grease and a brush daily. Also a shedding blade and a rake, or all three- that hair really is limitless. They are the worst shedding dogs in the history of dogs IMO g. -- Toni http://www.cearbhaill.com/rules.htm |

The owner of the specialty dog food store near here has GSDs (really nice ones), which she refers to as "German Shedders." Amy Dahl |

I had a German Shepherd Dog x Australian Cattle Dog - she had the hair length of the GSD and the coat thickness of the ACD. Murphy shed all year and blew her coat 4 times a year. I tried a number of different brushes and rakes, and found that the shedding blade worked best for her (she hated undercoat rakes). http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...=1&N=0&Nty= 1 -- --Matt. This is one of those times when you really need to try out the torture device first to see if it works. The shedding blade works great on my friend's 2 GSDs, her husband's Setter and Pointer/Lab mix, the Huskies and Malamute that come to the dog park, etc. It does absolutely nothing for Khan (GSD/Malamute mix) and his current buddy, a Golden Retriever mix. The rake does work great, though. Suja |

Would a shedding blade work ok on a short haired dog, or is it really for
the long haired german shephards? Mine is crossed with a boxer, so has quite short hair. Also under the skin my dog has due to her age, fatty lumps. Would a shedding blade cause distress? With more fatty acid in the diet, could a raw egg do the same as these maulting fur products? I havnt tried vitacoat, but other brands I have tried and they dont seem to work. Any help ? Thankyou for the advice on shedding blades.
Are they ok to try on short haired dogs? Spook has short fur because she is a german shephard crossed with a boxer. Also she has fatty age lumps under her fur. Would a shedding blade cause her distress. Ive tried moultng products but not vitacoat. If its fatty products in the diet, would a raw egg do? Heard it keeps cats fur shiney.. Any advice out there? Thankou for the advice on a shedding comb. Does this work on short haired
dogs? Spooks been is a crossed german shepherd and boxer, so has short hairs. Would a shedding comb be too rough on fatty age lumps under the skin? I havnt tried vitacoat, but have tried other maulting products to no avail. If its fat in the diet she lacks, would a raw egg do? Heard it good with cats for a shiney coat? Any good advice out there.... Caroline ( & Spook ) "Caroline Rowe" wrote in message ... my german shepherd crossed with a boxer suffers from moulting fur all year round.
